Welcome to Underground Gold Miners Museum Bringing the world of California's underground miners to light.....
LOCAL HISTORY WANTED
Photographs, memorabilia, artifacts and stories indiginous to the Alleghany area and especially related to mining are eagerly sought for our collection. For instructions on scanning photos please look under "articles", or we will scan your photos for you and provide you with a copy (CD) in exchange for sharing. Please email or call if you have items to donate. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Thank you!
June 23rd and 24th 2012 The Museum will be open both days from 10 am to 5 pm. “The Tellurides of California & Colorado” A special mineral collection of rare pieces composed of tellurium & gold.
Historical walking tours of Alleghany Daily at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Tours $10.00 per person, children free.
~ Two new permanent displays ~ “Mamie Swan’s Photo Album” Alleghany 1931 to 1954. & “A miner’s lamp collection” Comprised of antique lights with Alleghany provenances.
Gold Quartz Specimen raffle - need not be present to win.

Hours Because of our remote location and lack of drive-through traffic the museum is only open by appointment or during special events. Event dates are posted here. If you would like to be added to our mailing list and receive notifications of events please email your mailing address to: info@undergroundgold.com. This list is not shared or sold to anybody. Museum exhibits include local geology, the history of the town of Alleghany, the Alleghany mining district and the Sixteen to One Mine. The museum gift shop features gold-laced quartz specimens and jewelry from the Sixteen to One Mine as well as souvenirs, books, maps, geology specimens and t-shirts.

Located in a livery stable (circa. 1900) that later served as the town's General Store for over 50 years, Underground Gold Miners of California Museum is a 501 (c) (3) educational non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of California in 1995.
